RICHARD HENNESSYPosted: November 28, 2008
A class above the rest, Richard Hennessy is one of the exceptional and truly exciting Cognacs that you can find in the market today. Created in 1966, Richard Hennessy is a Cognac that boast the excellent craftsmanship in all seven generation of skilled Master Blenders from the Fillioux family. This gem is made from a blend of more than a hundred variety of eau de vie and most amazingly some dating back to the Founder’s Cellar in 1774! The eau de vie used are not only rare but are mostly made from the best ‘parcels’ of La Grande Champagne blended with a small proportion from La Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois.
Richard Hennessy is a vibrant cognac with complex characters. It’s alluring colour of orange and ’emerald’ (you’ll find a tinge of green colour mainly due to the extensive aging of its eau de vie) tones is truly stylish. I was furthered amazed upon nosing it…this cognac has seductive aromas. Admist the extreme aging of the eau de vie, you find a burst of young and refreshing fruit notes particularly orange peels accompanied by hints of nuts and spices. Upon sipping it, I find that Richard Hennessy is a youthful cognac with a balanced character. An explosion of bitter orange to start, followed by underlying flavours of oak and warm spices. If you’re out to savour the finer parts of life…sipping on a glass of Richard Hennessy is a must!
